Somebody left me a new chew toy. They hid it under some pillows on the couch but I dug it up when they left the room for a minute. I guess Mom and Dad think it will be bad for my teeth as they took it away from me. It’s funny cause while I was chewing the sound on the TV kept going up and down and the channels kept changing.

How embarrassing, they got the antlers on me. But actually thanks to Emma ( a good looking PWD from Beaufort N.C.) the picture was done with magical computer tips. Thanks Emma and to steal her greeting Bom Natal to all!

What can I say about the picture quality. I handed the phone to Dad and told him to get a good shot. Maybe because it was –10c with wind gusts to 40k, major storm warnings and it is freezing rain I will cut him some slack. At least he and Mom (in the red mitts) took me to the off leash park this morning. As you can see, lots of people dragged their pups out into the snow/freezing rain/wind today. We had fun though!

Tuesday, December 4, 2007

Did I tell you the one about the reindeer antlers? Every family seems to have a personal Christmas card. Mom thought we should have one as well. To make me look cute, she bought reindeer antlers but things fell apart during the installation. I am already cute, I don’t need or want antlers, I’m a puppy, not a reindeer! So this Christmas, I’m the star of the show and you get a different card. Instead of me and the family you just get me doing what I do best, being cute. You can see our card@

What a week, my parents say that if they had to name me again, they would have named me either Hoover or Houdini. Hoover, because my face is always on the ground, eating whatever I can get my mouth around and Houdini because I am an escape artist. Dad aged about 20 years yesterday when we were on our walk and I managed to get loose from my very special new collar, designed specifically to control me. I got free and ran across the road. Fortunately, for all of us, it was a fairly quiet morning and there were no cars around. My teacher said that she had never had a pup get loose on this collar but she doesn’t know me very well. Although every time we go to school and I don’t do what I’m supposed to, she says, “he’s a Portie”. The story ends good I got dad home safely and now my control collar and other collar are snapped together so that if I get loose again, the other collar will still be there. To quote a very famous line in my mom’s favourite movie, “there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home”. Stay tuned for next week, but for now, that’s all folks!

I am not a kid but I am a puppy and my first snow fall was FUN. Snow does not stick to me. OK a little under the chin.

Tuesday, November 20, 2007

I like my night bed I really do. But last week Dad may have thought differently. Mom was out of town so Dad was primary for the night. He did not realize what is a normal night for me. Lay down, roll over, shake the kennel, shake my tags, lay on my back, SNORE, scratch, SNORE, shake my tags, sit up and stare at the wall, lay back down and SNORE, shake my kennel, SNORE. I had a great sleep but Dad looked tired in the morning.

pict0001.avi
As you can see I am much better. I still have to take dugs for a few more days but not as long as planned. One day Mom took the wrong colour of pill, her cough is better too.

Tuesday, October 30, 2007

What a weekend. Beside the great weather I also received some family news. This is Arielle Berube and Fado's Sombra Dancarina ( aka Fado's Shadow Dancer) but I just call her My Big Sister. Way to go Sis, congratulations on getting your CKC Championship.

Wednesday, October 24, 2007

No picture cause I do not want to be seen sick. Even though I have never been in a kennel what do I get? Kennel Cough. I staid home from school last night and spent the morning at the Doctor's. It seems that even though I had my Bordatella shot I got the sore throat and cough. For the next two weeks my food will have a little hard spot in it twice a day and I get to see more of my new back yard fence-but only from the yard side. Will keep you posted on my progress.

Saturday, October 13, 2007

I had a visit from my family last week. More pictures will be available soon but for now it is just me on the left, Pinta my sister and Poça aka our Mother.

Thursday, October 4, 2007

I had a great day yesterday. First an hour plus walk in the park by the lake with Dad. It was FUN, lots of birds and squirrels to see. Then another car ride to another park in the 1000 Islands so see some boats. But I missed Mom but made it up last night with some quality lap time.

oct 1 07.avi I told you I would get back at them. This retrieve number 54.
Sorry no picture as I am not just up for one today. Yesterday Dad did not get everything out of my mouth when I chomped on some dead wood in the park. Well this morning at 02:30 I reminded them by waking them up with some stomach noises. The evidence was real on the rug about 1/2 hour later. Then if I keep this up they are going to get arrested for walking around with me outside in the middle of the night with a flashlight. Just when I was looking forward to a sardine they put me back to only dog food. Light breakfast and lunch but without my usual 4+ walks and park visits I am rarring to go. Look out Mom and Dad cause now I have a day of exercise to catch up on before bed. And tomorrow the sardine better be offered.

Sunday, September 23, 2007

Another week has passed and I am now 36 pounds. We went to the off leash party at the prison property twice and I checked out the others tattoos as they checked out mine. Spent an hour Saturday morning with Sumo. He is good as he found the dead fish to play with. We enjoyed the nice weather by having a bath and then a nap in the sunshine with dad: wet jeans meet wet puppy.

pillow 3.avi I call this pillow diving. As every athlete knows you have to mix up your training. So plenty of walk time, park time, park runs and just play. Maybe I should produce a video.

Tuesday, September 11, 2007

Ah, September already. It seems like summer just started and we have now had the last official weekend of summer. I have had a great time with my new family. We have gone to many parks, had lots of friends and relatives visit and learned all sorts of new tricks. I am very tired today as I am growing like a weed and it takes a lot of energy to grow. I graduated from puppy school and mommy and daddy have enrolled me in graduate school the end of this month. I guess they figure that I still have a lot of learning to do, but really it is them that have to learn how to teach me to do what they want and not what I want. My best friend Amelia, continues to come out and greet me on a daily basis and the cookies just keep on coming. It seems that my former tummy problems have cleared up, thanks to the new food that they are feeding me, expensive but effective. That’s it for today, after I finish my daily exercise routine, it is off for a nap and mommy comes home from work soon. See ya!
push up 4.avi Who would have thought puppy school would have gym classes. They taught me how to do these - puppy push ups.

Monday, August 27, 2007

Well I am a certified big boy now, I weigh in at 30lbs! I had a little bit of help with all the good food my parents have been giving me and the Doc’s suggestions. I ate my way though my last bag of Wolf Cub and since the Docs thought my tummy may still be tender to the bacterial infection I am now on a pure I/D kibble diet. I liked it as soon as I tasted it and my parents starting using less bags (if you know what I mean?) within 24 hours.

I had two trips to water this week. One day Dad and I walked over ½ hour to get to a beach only to find it posted for not swimming. That’s OK as it was not a hot day and I really enjoyed the walk. Another day we drove for an hour (good trip in my big crate-looking forward to another) and what do I see travel up the St. Lawrence- but Greenpeace’s Artic Sunrise (I don’t know anything about the boat but everyone in attendance was impressed so I thought that I would mention it). I’m looking forward to checking this beach out again, I really like being at the cottage!

All this travel makes me want to sleep (on another new bed).

Thursday, August 16, 2007

The young fellow beside me is cousin Noah. He visited me for two days and he was so nice I did not even try to eat him. He went to the lake with me and watched as I got my tummy wet. The lake should be fun but I’m not sure yet how far in I want to go but it sure does taste great. I have been into my pool but not enough water to drink there as Dad only put in a couple of inches. I think next week I will ask him not to be so cheap, but then his Mastercard has been given quite a chewing by me.I am now up to 24 pounds and on the good side Mom does not have to carry me downstairs in the morning and forget about night calls I am a big guy now. The school even moved me from being with the small students and now I'm with the big boys and girls. I like the Great Danes but then I like everybody even if they are not a dog. I had a very busy couple of days. On Monday, I got my first haircut and on Tuesday I went to the vets for my finals. There were many visitors at the house too, I met mommy's friends, Greg, Karen and a new person Betty-Anne. I think I'll take a nap now as I find it very hard to sit on this chair and type all that has been going on with me. I'll keep you up to date.

Wednesday, August 15, 2007

Nemeau has earned his Working Water Dog title this weekend! Right on Dad! I like the surfer cool look. I want to be just like you.

Monday, August 6, 2007

I’m almost there, I now weigh 21 lbs. A lot has happened so here it is in no particular order. I got a new Big Boy bed, I wasn’t sleeping very good as it was too hot so we ordered a new big boy bed, on line and it was delivered the next day! This is just my day bed, the other is HUGE. Now I am sleeping all night long (sounds like a great name for a song!). I only get up when Mom does and she takes me out if I sit up by the back door. I got to see my Auntie Sue again. She visited me when I was just about 5 weeks but I have grown 3xs that now. I met my very first PWD that I wasn’t related to. He was a 5 year old male named Marley We had a great time playing until I got a little nippy and he growled at me to go away. But then we played again. I hope that I get to be as nice looking and calm as he is (my mom told me to write that part, she liked the calm part). I met my groomer and got a peticure, a full moon moment when you have to get hair cut off your hands. School! What is this? Lots of fun with 11 other kids. They all smelled so nice. The drag is homework.

Hello.avi

HI! This week I have a stock tip for you - Nylabone® Buy up all you can then resell them to my parents. They seem to think they can save on the furniture bills by keeping me busy with them. What they do not know is I am not really interested in the furniture but I just play with their minds to get more bones and it works. I also have them trained to take me outside whenever I sit at the back door.

Saw the Doc again this week but for a good reason – I got my shots. Plus she did a front end suspension check-up. I am back climbing stairs and now even know how to go down with the words slow always in my ears and hands to ensure I maintain a leisurely pace. I have been to the park everyday and also got to see the lake. I know I tried to leave home and swim to Kingston but it looks a lot bigger than I remember and the stones are not painted blue. Once I figure some things out I will give the water a try.

Lots of meets and greets. Hi Pete, looking forward to meeting Arizona. Also Hi to Angel, Bas, Charlie, Barney and all the others. Getting shots was cool now I can meet all these guys and girls.

Sunday, July 15, 2007

Let me start off by saying, it’s not as bad as it reads and NO my parents are not overly protective just concerned. On Monday I was finished breakfast (which I must say sits better on the tummy since I have been getting those hard core appetizers) and just coming in from the bathroom. Got the necessary paw cleaning then off leash heading for the living room when I lost it. Even with wide webbed feet I could not get traction on the kitchen floor and did a sprawled face plant trying to make the corner. When I got up the front right one did not work properly. Inspections were done and phone calls made. Off to the standby Doc (dang missed the 6am news). Apparently I sprained my front right ankle and have to be watched, plus no stair climber for 2 weeks. Great I get carried up and down and I love it. Darn Doc warned them that I am so smart that I may trick them for the sympathy. By lunch I gave up on the limp but I still enjoy the extra paw and ankle rubs and the carrying up and down the stairs. Grandma called that night but we did not want to worry her, so I have to keep quiet about this. May be she can let Madeira know that the hard core appetizers (antibiotics) really do taste OK and seem to have magical powers. Take care Sis. We had hot and stormy weather this week. I can tell Mom does not like thunder so I show her how to not be afraid and she is getting better at it. On the really hot days I find the AC outlet under the counter is really cool on the head and back of neck. Again a lot of meet and greets- Hi Marie and Karen, thanks for all the loving.

Thursday, July 12, 2007

Just a quick note as Grandma Hall sent me some pictures yesterday. This fellows name is Ch Aliana’s Sonho Do Menino Novo but he is called Nemeau. But for me I just call him Dad.

This fun on the cheap doorstop.avi

Sunday, July 8, 2007

What a week. It started off good but then I had to see the Doc again. Nothing serious, just Mom and Dad were running out of paper towels and plastic bags. I got a shot and everything seemed OK in the morning. My food tastes different but is very good but the appetizer seems to have a hard spot in the middle. I am now getting back to my normal food but that appetizer still has that funny spot. Doc did say I am teething with something called secondary teeth, I thought the ones I am biting with were good but look out legs and furniture here I come with new ones. I think that my Grandma Hall was on vacation this week and Mom and Dad were looking for some advice about my mouth and the other end so who did they happen to call - my dad Nemo and his parents Cynthia and Henri. They were so nice to help out. My kongs are now frozen treats that keep me busy for at least 30 seconds. So I am back to my normal routine of walk and play, eat, sleep, catch the morning news, walk and play and sleep. The big thing this week happened yesterday. We were all out front playing when a car stopped and the driver asked if I was a PWD. They shut off the car, jumped out and I go lots of love and kisses all around. So now it is certified that I am cute enough to stop traffic. Just wish they would not leave the car in the intersection.

Saturday, June 30, 2007

The best I can say this week is that I got a note from Grandma. It was so nice to hear from her and the others, I will let you read my private E-Mails.

From Grandma to me:

Well Poca, Pinta, Grandpa and I sure do miss you, but we are happy to see you doing so well. You really seem to have landed in the perfect home for you. I am sure the 8 week wait was well worth it. Keep being a good and loving boy.

From me to Grandma:

I know it is early but I gotta write you now before I get too busy. I been sleeping pretty good and if I have to get up at 1:30 the Elders do not seem to mind, they just take me out then back to bed we go. They built me my own bathroom near the house and I use it. They get up early so I have all ready been and just chilling out until breakfast. Then I get to watch the sun come up while playing on the cool grass. I can slowly walk upstairs so they know I want in when I climb up to the door. I try get back inside by 6:00 so we can watch CITY TV and I get to see the old stomping grounds and traffic reports. Yesterday morning I went and met all sorts of people where mom works. It is near the lake but they did not take me there as there are lots of dogs there and I haven't had my second set of shots yet. Eventually I will see it. They have other places that have grass, shade and I get all the ground to myself. I met my Doctor the other day. I must have been tired as I fell asleep on the table while they chatted. Slight adjustment to my food amounts and my bathroom habits have improved. I get weighed every day mid morning to ensure I gain weight but not too much. I must be a real chick magnet as all the people and Doc are cute Ladies. Nice to hear from you but I hear breakfast being prepared. Then out back where maybe I will practise my flying squirrel jump into the garden-again. Nice soft landing on the tall plants and ground cover.

Love Chorizo

Quick update, I can now climb stairs (up anyway) and I am sleeping about 6 hours a night, not too shabby. My neighbour Auntie Amelia comes and sees me early every morning when I am out for my first walk and bathroom break. I usually see her 3 or 4 more times each day. I really like her. We went shopping today. Dad and I stayed outside and socialized while Mom shopped. The neatest part is we sat opposite an old farmers market and the Butcher came out to greet me, nice smelling guy. Now I am in charge of guarding what my parents bought (note from Dad-I broke in the frig several times and the guard did not attack or even wake up. Also opportune time time for Chorizo’s eye cleaning).

Monday, June 25, 2007

Back yard, front yard, meet and greets and especially make sure where the two adults are. All of this gives me an excuse to sleep on the job a bit.

Saturday, June 23, 2007

I made the big trip to my new home today. My new parents picked me up after I had my bath and big groom. While new Mom was signing for me new Dad got instructions and gave me a Reiki Massage, I seem to have lost 20 minutes after that, all I remember is walking on clouds and the smell of cookies. A quick banheiro then onto NM’s lap and away we go. It was a nice ride, I got to sleep in a lap and then get up explore my crate and sleep in it. I do not think I could have swimed this far. When we got to my new home somebody had even tied balloons up to greet me. I got to run around in the yard and meet all sorts of neighbours who came to see what a cute guy I am. The food in this place is just like home and so is the water I drink. I think they planned on that, thanks. After lunch, toys, meet and greets, licking faces, trying to clean eyeglasses and of course a few trips to the banheiro a nap is always great.

Tuesday, June 19, 2007

I almost made it out today. I know my new parents live by the lake so me and Madeira saw an out. We would just get under the fence, into the water and swim for it. All of the rest played follow the leader and we were on our way to Kingston. Did you know lake water has a taste of chorine? We were almost there when kennel mom caught us and the escape plan was fouled. Ah well I will get to Kingston soon.

Monday, June 11, 2007

Since I have yet to meet both of my parents, they went to visit another puppy. His name is Sumo and apparently, he is one BIG boy. He is only 9 weeks old and weighs in at 18 lbs. I hope he likes me when we meet or I’m in trouble.

My new mom called to find out which of the 5 of us she is going to take home in 2 weeks. And the answer is…. Rio, and I like my new name Chorizo. I am going to be registered under the new name of Fado’s Chorizo Rio, what a handle for such a small puppy. I am so excited about going to my new home in only 13 more BIG SLEEPS!!!! However, I am also going to miss my brothers and sisters and especially my mom Poça, but I’m up for the adventure.

Saturday, June 2, 2007

One of my potential parents called last Saturday. I think that she was just checking up on me. You see, neither of us knows, which one of us she is going to be taking home. At this point in time, only my sister, Madeira, knows whom her parents are.

My grandma Deirdre is trying to figure out which of us would be a better fit with each of our new families. You see, I am a little bit rambunctious and Deirdre is not too sure if I would be a good fit with the family that has two small kids. I don’t really care who my new parents are going to be as long as they love me, feed me and give me lots of new toys to play with. It’s 4 weeks today that I will be going to my new home. I know that I will miss my mom and brothers and sisters but I’m pretty sure that this lady that keeps calling, really wants to have a new puppy. I hear that they have built me my own toilet, not everyone can say that they have their very own place in the backyard to do their business. I’d like to stay and chat but I just heard the bowls coming and as always, I’m hungry. This business of growing and playing is tough. I’ll check back in soon.

Sunday, May 20, 2007

I got to meet one of my Kingston Family this weekend. She said that she was going to be my new mommy.. It was fun. She hugged all of us and tried to get some pictures. Let us just say that her loving skills far outweigh her camera skills. We also got to meet my soon to be auntie Sue, she held us all too. We seem to be growing according to plan but what do I know about plans, I am just a puppy.

Wednesday, May 16, 2007

Here it is I'm 3 weeks old and we are getting out of the nursery. We are going to the exercise yard, I hope they have toys. We are also starting on something called puppy food. I thought what my Mom Poça was giving us was pretty darn good. THANKS MOM!! As you can see one of us is a leader and that may just be me. But what do I know I am just a puppy?

Wednesday, May 9, 2007

My Kingston family called tonight and they sound very nice. I may see one of them in a couple of weeks but I will not be able to destroy their home until mid June. They asked all sorts of questions about my current health and my future care and feeding. Apparently Urban Wolf will be a food I will like but they are going to treat me like a real live dog and give me lots of raw stuff. Since I am a Portuguese dog I crave sardines and other fish so they are stocking up. Sorry I have not included pictures as I just got to see the world around me and a flash would hurt my eyes. Maybe next week. In order to tell me apart from my brothers and sisters I am currently called Rio. But you can tell who I am - the CUTE ONE.

Sunday, May 6, 2007

Here is a picture of me, my two bothers and two sisters. OH and of course my Mom -Poça. If you have a hard time knowing which one is me-I am the cute one. This picture was taken at the end of April.

Friday, May 4, 2007

Hi my name is Chorizo and I am as cute as a puppy. How do I know? Because I am a puppy. I am a Portuguese Water Dog born April 23 2007. I do not have a current photo of my self so I have included what I should look like as I get older. But right now I can best be described as cute.
