Somebody left me a new chew toy. They hid it under some pillows on the couch but I dug it up when they left the room for a minute. I guess Mom and Dad think it will be bad for my teeth as they took it away from me. It’s funny cause while I was chewing the sound on the TV kept going up and down and the channels kept changing.

What can I say about the picture quality. I handed the phone to Dad and told him to get a good shot. Maybe because it was –10c with wind gusts to 40k, major storm warnings and it is freezing rain I will cut him some slack. At least he and Mom (in the red mitts) took me to the off leash park this morning. As you can see, lots of people dragged their pups out into the snow/freezing rain/wind today. We had fun though!

Did I tell you the one about the reindeer antlers? Every family seems to have a personal Christmas card. Mom thought we should have one as well. To make me look cute, she bought reindeer antlers but things fell apart during the installation. I am already cute, I don’t need or want antlers, I’m a puppy, not a reindeer! So this Christmas, I’m the star of the show and you get a different card. Instead of me and the family you just get me doing what I do best, being cute. You can see our card@

What a week, my parents say that if they had to name me again, they would have named me either Hoover or Houdini. Hoover, because my face is always on the ground, eating whatever I can get my mouth around and Houdini because I am an escape artist. Dad aged about 20 years yesterday when we were on our walk and I managed to get loose from my very special new collar, designed specifically to control me. I got free and ran across the road. Fortunately, for all of us, it was a fairly quiet morning and there were no cars around. My teacher said that she had never had a pup get loose on this collar but she doesn’t know me very well. Although every time we go to school and I don’t do what I’m supposed to, she says, “he’s a Portie”. The story ends good I got dad home safely and now my control collar and other collar are snapped together so that if I get loose again, the other collar will still be there. To quote a very famous line in my mom’s favourite movie, “there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home”. Stay tuned for next week, but for now, that’s all folks!

Well I am a certified big boy now, I weigh in at 30lbs! I had a little bit of help with all the good food my parents have been giving me and the Doc’s suggestions. I ate my way though my last bag of Wolf Cub and since the Docs thought my tummy may still be tender to the bacterial infection I am now on a pure I/D kibble diet. I liked it as soon as I tasted it and my parents starting using less bags (if you know what I mean?) within 24 hours.
I had two trips to water this week. One day Dad and I walked over ½ hour to get to a beach only to find it posted for not swimming. That’s OK as it was not a hot day and I really enjoyed the walk. Another day we drove for an hour (good trip in my big crate-looking forward to another) and what do I see travel up the St. Lawrence- but Greenpeace’s Artic Sunrise (I don’t know anything about the boat but everyone in attendance was impressed so I thought that I would mention it). I’m looking forward to checking this beach out again, I really like being at the cottage!
All this travel makes me want to sleep (on another new bed).

Hello.avi
HI! This week I have a stock tip for you - Nylabone® Buy up all you can then resell them to my parents. They seem to think they can save on the furniture bills by keeping me busy with them. What they do not know is I am not really interested in the furniture but I just play with their minds to get more bones and it works. I also have them trained to take me outside whenever I sit at the back door.
Saw the Doc again this week but for a good reason – I got my shots. Plus she did a front end suspension check-up. I am back climbing stairs and now even know how to go down with the words slow always in my ears and hands to ensure I maintain a leisurely pace. I have been to the park everyday and also got to see the lake. I know I tried to leave home and swim to Kingston but it looks a lot bigger than I remember and the stones are not painted blue. Once I figure some things out I will give the water a try.
Lots of meets and greets. Hi Pete, looking forward to meeting Arizona. Also Hi to Angel, Bas, Charlie, Barney and all the others. Getting shots was cool now I can meet all these guys and girls.

What a week. It started off good but then I had to see the Doc again. Nothing serious, just Mom and Dad were running out of paper towels and plastic bags. I got a shot and everything seemed OK in the morning. My food tastes different but is very good but the appetizer seems to have a hard spot in the middle. I am now getting back to my normal food but that appetizer still has that funny spot. Doc did say I am teething with something called secondary teeth, I thought the ones I am biting with were good but look out legs and furniture here I come with new ones. I think that my Grandma Hall was on vacation this week and Mom and Dad were looking for some advice about my mouth and the other end so who did they happen to call - my dad Nemo and his parents Cynthia and Henri. They were so nice to help out. My kongs are now frozen treats that keep me busy for at least 30 seconds. So I am back to my normal routine of walk and play, eat, sleep, catch the morning news, walk and play and sleep. The big thing this week happened yesterday. We were all out front playing when a car stopped and the driver asked if I was a PWD. They shut off the car, jumped out and I go lots of love and kisses all around. So now it is certified that I am cute enough to stop traffic. Just wish they would not leave the car in the intersection.

From Grandma to me:
Well Poca, Pinta, Grandpa and I sure do miss you, but we are happy to see you doing so well. You really seem to have landed in the perfect home for you. I am sure the 8 week wait was well worth it. Keep being a good and loving boy.
From me to Grandma:
I know it is early but I gotta write you now before I get too busy. I been sleeping pretty good and if I have to get up at 1:30 the Elders do not seem to mind, they just take me out then back to bed we go. They built me my own bathroom near the house and I use it. They get up early so I have all ready been and just chilling out until breakfast. Then I get to watch the sun come up while playing on the cool grass. I can slowly walk upstairs so they know I want in when I climb up to the door. I try get back inside by 6:00 so we can watch CITY TV and I get to see the old stomping grounds and traffic reports.
Yesterday morning I went and met all sorts of people where mom works. It is near the lake but they did not take me there as there are lots of dogs there and I haven't had my second set of shots yet. Eventually I will see it. They have other places that have grass, shade and I get all the ground to myself. I met my Doctor the other day. I must have been tired as I fell asleep on the table while they chatted. Slight adjustment to my food amounts and my bathroom habits have improved. I get weighed every day mid morning to ensure I gain weight but not too much. I must be a real chick magnet as all the people and Doc are cute Ladies.
Nice to hear from you but I hear breakfast being prepared. Then out back where maybe I will practise my flying squirrel jump into the garden-again. Nice soft landing on the tall plants and ground cover.
Love Chorizo
Quick update, I can now climb stairs (up anyway) and I am sleeping about 6 hours a night, not too shabby. My neighbour Auntie Amelia comes and sees me early every morning when I am out for my first walk and bathroom break. I usually see her 3 or 4 more times each day. I really like her. We went shopping today. Dad and I stayed outside and socialized while Mom shopped. The neatest part is we sat opposite an old farmers market and the Butcher came out to greet me, nice smelling guy. Now I am in charge of guarding what my parents bought (note from Dad-I broke in the frig several times and the guard did not attack or even wake up. Also opportune time time for Chorizo’s eye cleaning).

I almost made it out today. I know my new parents live by the lake so me and Madeira saw an out. We would just get under the fence, into the water and swim for it. All of the rest played follow the leader and we were on our way to Kingston. Did you know lake water has a taste of chorine? We were almost there when kennel mom caught us and the escape plan was fouled. Ah well I will get to Kingston soon.

Since I have yet to meet both of my parents, they went to visit another puppy. His name is Sumo and apparently, he is one BIG boy. He is only 9 weeks old and weighs in at 18 lbs. I hope he likes me when we meet or I’m in trouble.
My new mom called to find out which of the 5 of us she is going to take home in 2 weeks. And the answer is…. Rio, and I like my new name Chorizo. I am going to be registered under the new name of Fado’s Chorizo Rio, what a handle for such a small puppy. I am so excited about going to my new home in only 13 more BIG SLEEPS!!!! However, I am also going to miss my brothers and sisters and especially my mom Poça, but I’m up for the adventure.

One of my potential parents called last Saturday. I think that she was just checking up on me. You see, neither of us knows, which one of us she is going to be taking home. At this point in time, only my sister, Madeira, knows whom her parents are.
My grandma Deirdre is trying to figure out which of us would be a better fit with each of our new families. You see, I am a little bit rambunctious and Deirdre is not too sure if I would be a good fit with the family that has two small kids. I don’t really care who my new parents are going to be as long as they love me, feed me and give me lots of new toys to play with. It’s 4 weeks today that I will be going to my new home. I know that I will miss my mom and brothers and sisters but I’m pretty sure that this lady that keeps calling, really wants to have a new puppy. I hear that they have built me my own toilet, not everyone can say that they have their very own place in the backyard to do their business. I’d like to stay and chat but I just heard the bowls coming and as always, I’m hungry. This business of growing and playing is tough. I’ll check back in soon.

My Kingston family called tonight and they sound very nice. I may see one of them in a couple of weeks but I will not be able to destroy their home until mid June. They asked all sorts of questions about my current health and my future care and feeding. Apparently Urban Wolf will be a food I will like but they are going to treat me like a real live dog and give me lots of raw stuff. Since I am a Portuguese dog I crave sardines and other fish so they are stocking up. Sorry I have not included pictures as I just got to see the world around me and a flash would hurt my eyes. Maybe next week. In order to tell me apart from my brothers and sisters I am currently called Rio. But you can tell who I am - the CUTE ONE.
